Ward 3 Quick Update

Good Morning Ward 3 Residents,

Just a quick reminder today May 7th there is a Primary Election. The only issue on the ballot here in North Royalton is an EMS Renewal Levy. If you still have not voted, it will only take a few minutes to cast your vote. The city is asking residents to continue to support North Royalton’s emergency medical service by renewing a 1.7 mill operating levy. Please support this renewal levy and help us keep the excellent EMS service that we have here in our city. To learn more about the renewal levy check out these links:

WARD 3 MONTHLY E-NEWSLETTER: APRIL 2013

Greetings Ward 3 Resident,

My name is Dan Langshaw and I am your new Councilman. My name may sound familiar to you because, I served as a member of the North Royalton School Board. Recently, City Council appointed me to the vacant Ward 3 Council Seat after the death of our friend and Councilman Don Willey. I will be serving on the following council committees: Review & Oversight Committee Chair, Safety Committee Vice Chair, and Finance Committee Member. This November I plan to humbly ask for your support so I can continue to serve the residents of Ward 3. In the months to come I plan to host monthly coffees, go door to door to introduce myself to the residents of our ward, and send out a monthly e-newsletter.

Last Board Update

Good Evening:

Hope everyone had a great Easter with their family and friends. As many of you may be aware as of March 28th I have resigned from the North Royalton School Board in order to accept an appointment by the North Royalton City Council to serve out the balance of the late Don Willey’s term of office as the Ward 3 Councilman. On March 29th I was sworn into office as the new Councilman for Ward 3. This will be my last board update. I will miss our amazing students, teachers, administrators, and parents who make the North Royalton City School District such a great place to be! I thank you all for what you do to make a difference. I plan to continue to be involved in supporting our school district in other ways as a member of city council and as a proud NRHS Alumnus. I leave the School Board feeling that the North Royalton City School District is headed in a positive direction. Again thank you for the opportunity to serve you all and the over 4,700 students in the North Royalton City School District. I look forward to continuing to serve our community on the North Royalton City Council. If you are a Ward 3 Resident or just enjoyed my e-mail updates please e-mail me back if you would like to continue to receive my updates but as North Royalton City Councilman for Ward 3.

Operation North Royalton Cares Gears Up to Help Ease the Financial Strain of Going Back to School for a Third Year

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

July 9, 2012

(North Royalton, Ohio)—Third Annual Operation North Royalton Cares is scheduled take place the weeks of July 30th through August 10th. The mission of Operation North Royalton Cares is to collect school supplies for families of students in need, living in North Royalton. Throughout the week there will be various drop off locations throughout the city for community members to donate items. The program is supported by the North Royalton City School District in coordination with the City of North Royalton Office on Aging and Human Services.

Operation North Royalton Cares was started back in 2010 by North Royalton School Board Member Dan Langshaw, who founded the program after seeing first-hand members of the community struggling in these tough economic times. “Last years Operation NR Cares was even more success, we were able to help over 35 families and 79 students in need by getting them the necessary school supplies to start the school year. With the economy recovering very slowly, the need to help these families and students in our community who are struggling to get the necessary supplies they need for going back to school is very much needed. The community’s generosity and support of this program makes me so proud to live here in North Royalton!”, said Langshaw.

Operation North Royalton Cares will kick off with a free event open to the public on July 30th from 5pm-7pm at the Monday, July 30, 2012 from 5:00pm-7:00pm at The 3 Spot 13855 Ridge Rd., North Royalton, OH 44133. SINCE MY LAST SCHOOL BOARD UPDATE

Partnership for a Healthy North Royalton
Earlier this year, a collaborative coalition of parents, school personnel, business professionals, religious leaders, and other community activists known as the Partnership for a Healthy North Royalton, applied for and were awarded a Federal Drug-Free Community Grant. The grant will be active for two years under the guidance and mentorship of the CAPA (Community Awareness and Prevention Association), and local, well-established coalition in the Brecksville-Broadview Heights communities. A key component of this grant is to conduct a Community Perception Survey to determine where needs are in relation to the amount of substance use and/or abuse among various age groups in the community. The greater our response to the survey, the better our results will be for analyzing how we can better service those within our community affected by substance abuse issues. Please consider taking a few minutes to participate in the survey. Answers are completely anonymous and are not in any way connected to an identifiable email address. After completing the survey, you can choose to enter a drawing to win an iPad2! Again, responses are still not linked to your name. The survey can be accessed at http://www.surveymonkey.com/NRCPS2012KC. Data will be collected through March 1, 2012.

LAST WEEK IN YOUR SCHOOL BOARD

On August 4th toured the progress of the Stadium Project. The press box has been completed, finishing touches are underway on the home side bleachers, and the turf was being laid down during my tour. The biggest thing that still needs to be completed is the track. It was great to see how much progress has been made since last month.
