LAST WEEK IN YOUR SCHOOL BOARD
Below is a copy of the press release for the Crystal Starfish Award winners. Congrats to Lora Rung and Jennifer Petty for this very special recognition. We are so lucky to have such great teachers and support staff!
Good Evening:
“The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character- that is the goal of true education”. –Martin Luther King Jr.
I just wanted to update you all that I didn’t get Board President or Vice President at Organizational School Board Meeting on January 10th, but it felt good to stand up as a leader. I was one vote shy of being elected Vice President of the Board. But regardless I will continue to work hard in my role as a Board Member and doing my best serve the constituents and students in our district! I have received my committee assignments for 2011 and I have been re-appointed to the Policy Committee and will also serve as the Legislative Liaison for the Board. In addition I am also the High School Building Liaison, which is for just for a term for the 2010-2011 School Year.
Good Afternoon:
I just wanted to let you know that my website is currently under construction. Later this month I will be unveiling my new and improved website at www.danlangshaw.com.
If you have any friends or neighbors who would like to receive my weekly e-mail updates please let me know and I will be sure to add them to my e-mail list.

January 5, 2011 . . . School districts in Ohio’s 24th Senate District will be meeting for an Educational Roundtable Discussion on the topic of Preserving our Funding in the Next State Budget on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at 7pm at the North Olmsted School District’s Administrative Building, 27425 Butternut Ridge Rd., North Olmsted, Ohio 44070.
Good Afternoon:
Happy New Year, everyone! 2010 brought a lot of successes and some challenges for our school district, but perhaps they were minuscule in consideration of the challenges that public education will face in here 2011. Even so, I am hopeful. And I am determined. Determined to continue to advance those causes that inspired me to run for the school board in the first place: fiscal responsibility, communication, transparency, ensuring that we maintain excellent schools, and plan a better future for the next generation. I am already hitting the ground running here in 2011 by helping organize a round table discussion on how school districts like North Royalton and others in the 24th Ohio Senate can preserve their funding in the next state budget. The state budget will be the biggest challenge for 2011 because of the projected cuts in education funding, but I plan to spend a considerable amount of time advocating that the new General Assembly preserves education funding for districts like ours.
From time to time I write our representatives in the Ohio General Assembly and our members in Congress about various legislation. In my letters I tell lawmakers about the importance certain legislation would have on the North Royalton School District and our community at large. Below is a copy of a recent letter I got from our Congresswoman regarding the Keep Our Educators Working Act of 2010. I think this is a good piece of legislation that would not only help districts like North Royalton, but the rest in our state by having increased federal aid for education.
Good Afternoon:
I hope everyone had a good Christmas and New Years. This is the first of many e-mails to update you on the actions of the North Royalton School Board.
