Ward 3 Quick Update: March 20, 2020

Ward 3 Resident,

This COVID-19 emergency is something we ALL should take very seriously! This not business as usual! I have family, friends, and loves ones who are first-responders and medical professionals on the front-lines of this. I hear their stories daily. We MUST take this emergency seriously. Something we can all do is #StayHome as much as possible. If you must go out please use #SocialDistancing and other common-sense protective measures. Until you hear otherwise from health care officials, even if you have no symptoms to help #FlattenTheCurve of community spread of COVID-19. When looking back in history to past pandemics like the 1918 influenza pandemic the most severe pandemic in recent history. Like now they turned to proven tactics of isolation, quarantine, good personal hygiene, use of disinfectants, and limitations of public gatherings to help end the spread. I know all of you are on information overload at times. Me too! But also knowledge is power and it could even help save your life. I have been doing my best to keep up but things change on an hourly basis. So moving forward I will keep updating helpful information as a one-stop place for North Royalton Ward 3 COVID-19 Updates that include various information from all levels of government and I will focus more on adding things that residents have requested more information on like where to get carryout and etc.

Ward 3 Quick Update: March 16, 2020

Ward 3 Resident,

These are difficult times for all of us! Together we will all get through this ever-changing Coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis our nation and the world are battling. Thank you to our brave doctors, nurses, and first-responders on the front lines of all of this! Having served in the United States Army I view this as battling a war against COVID-19. Again don’t panic but be prepared to adapt to more changes to your daily life for the next several weeks or more. These changes are being made to help save the lives of your family, neighbors, and friends. Call and check-in with your family members and neighbors to see how they are doing. It’s important for families to restrict travel right now. I’ve advised members of my own family not to travel. I suggest only going out if you absolutely need to. Community spread is the biggest concern at the moment. The Ohio Department of Health has a Call Center to answer questions related to the Coronavirus (COVID-19). The Call Center is open 7 days a week from 9:00am to 8:00pm and can be reached at 1-833-4-ASK-ODH (1-833-427-5634). Call 911 or your healthcare provider right away if you believe that you have been exposed to COVID-19.

Ward 3 Quick Update: March 13, 2020

Ward 3 Resident,

I know there are a lot of residents concerned about the Coronavirus (COVID-19). We will all get through this by working together as both a Ward and a community! There are now at least 3 confirmed cases in Cuyahoga County and Governor Mike DeWine has declared as State of Emergency to allow state departments and agencies to better coordinate in their response to COVID-19. Read More.

We as local city officials here in North Royalton recognize the current COVID-19 situation and the potential impact. Fire Chief Robert Chegan, serving as the Emergency Coordinator for our City, and Mayor Larry Antoskiewicz have maintained daily situational awareness since the inception of this rapidly evolving situation. We as a City continue to coordinate with the following agencies on a daily basis: CDC, Ohio Department of Health, Cuyahoga County Office of Emergency Management, Cuyahoga County Board of Health, the International Association of Fire Chiefs and other government and healthcare agencies.

With that, it is important not to panic, be educated, and to take steps at home to prevent the spread of germs. To prepare and be aware of any potential outbreaks, ReadyNotify is our City’s Reverse 911 notification system powered by CodeRED. It’s used by the County and our community to issue emergency notifications to the residents, especially when rapid and accurate information is essential for your immediate safety. You can register by clicking HERE.

I know there are a lot of residents concerned about the Coronavirus (COVID-19). We will all get through this by working together as both a Ward and a community! Please Stay Home and only go out if it is essential. Follow all orders of federal, state, and local officials. As a candidate to retake my Ward 3 City Council seat for 2021, I plan to continue what I started.

February 20, 2020 Statement from North Royalton Ward 3 Councilman Dan Langshaw on the Closing of Historic Carrie Cerino’s Ristorante & Party Center

Many of us in the community are heartbroken by the abrupt closing of Carrie Cerino’s Ristorante & Party Center after 57 years of business yesterday. Carrie Cerino’s has been a pillar of both great traditional family Italian cuisine and community life. Including my own life and family. I have so many great memories as a child of family celebrations and parties. My parents had made it a tradition to celebrate their anniversary every year with “mama noodles” and I too had taken their tradition with my own wife Marissa at Carrie Cerino’s where we would celebrate our milestones together.

Owner, Carmen Cerino‘s comments on Facebook stated that:

“headwinds facing many small businesses in today’s environment made it very difficult for Carrie Cerino’s to operate and compete.”

This is truly hard to stomach and serves as a wake up for our entire community since this makes now about the third restaurant/bar type of business to close its doors in North Royalton in 2020. I truly wish as a community leader and we as a city could have worked collaboratively to save this business and others. It’s becoming alarmingly clear the current way of business as usual of economic development needs to change in this city.

I believe and will continue to advocate this year for City Council to get more actively engaged in the economic development process. While working with the City Administration, Chamber of Commerce, and business leaders, my goal is to help foster a more business friendly environment that will retain existing businesses, attract new ones, and encourage residents to buy local in North Royalton. I believe we can work together as a community so that we don’t see any more closures of family run businesses like Carrie Cerino’s.

For more information contact North Royalton Ward 3 Councilman Dan Langshaw at ward3@northroyalton.org or 440-785-4240.

Detours will be implemented during that time frame to divert traffic.
