Business Best Practices during Covid-19
A great starting point is to read this quick, 1 page document on 5 practical tips that small businesses can use to protect their financial health or on 25 tips for marketing your business during the coronavirus. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has created a template for your business to create a plan to remain in operation during a pandemic. A quicker, shorter version from the CDC and the Department of Health & Human Services can be found here. The CDC also released an interim guidance for businesses and employers. The U.S. Chamber has developed several useful tools, resource lists and communication toolkits for businesses to use as well as a live blog to help businesses for the near and long-term impact. Access US Chamber site here.

Restart Tool for Businesses
Click Here to view a Restart Playbook that University Hospitals has created for businesses to consider as they begin to re-open back up.

Disinfectant Suppliers
As businesses start up and return to their facilities there is an expected jump in demand of sanitizing and disinfectant supplies. MAGNET has created a list that can be found Here of companies supplying disinfectants, disinfectant cleaning services, as well as disinfecting guidelines and EPA registered products.

Ohio BWC to provide Face Coverings to Employers
Governor DeWine announced on May 19, 2020 that the Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation (BWC) will begin distributing at least 2 million non-medical-grade face coverings to Ohio employers who are covered by BWC. Public and private employers that participate in the State Insurance Fund will receive a package from BWC containing at least 50 face coverings. These packages will be shipped in batches beginning May 20, 2020. The masks, which are intended to support and enhance any workforce safety and health efforts businesses already have in place, are funded through BWC’s existing budget and will not impact any premiums.

Bags of Joy Project

(Last Updated on May 10, 2020 at 8:18pm)

Blossom Hill, a residential care facility for individuals with developmental disabilities here in North Royalton, has partnered with Ward 3 Councilman Dan Langshaw on a project called Bags of Joy (#BagsOfJoyNoRo).

Staff members from Blossom Hill and Councilman Langshaw will donate items for these bags such as chalk, crayons, stickers, little toys, and etc for students at each of the elementary schools in North Royalton if a bag is requested. (Students can be from anywhere in North Royalton and don’t have to live in Ward 3). The bags will also include a positive note to the kids saying that we are proud of them and wishing them a great summer.

This project is completely voluntary. If a parent would like a bag for their child, then should contact Councilman Langshaw at ward3@northroyalton.org and request a Bag of Joy. In the email, please include your home address, the elementary school the child attends and first name of the child so each bag can be personalized. Once we get requests and the bags are completed. Blossom Hill Staff will drop off each of these bags at the student’s house, and with proper social distancing, as a nice surprise to help them get through this COVID-19 Emergency.

Ward 3 Quick Update: April 15, 2020

Ward 3 Resident,

I hope everyone had a good Easter given the current Stay at Home Order still in place. As your City Councilman, I am doing all I can to help you and your families through this COVID-19 emergency. Hopefully you have received my ward-wide mailer with helpful information regarding COVID-19 last week. I have also stepped up my efforts to #MaskUpNRWard3 to help prevent further community spread of COVID-19. Yesterday, Governor Mike DeWine reported that state-wide there are 7,153 confirmed cases, 309 confirmed deaths, and 1,239 confirmed cases here in Cuyahoga County of COVID-19. Click Here to view full stats.

I am still getting complaints from residents about people in our community and even here in Ward 3 not following the Stay at Home Order by the State of Ohio and being large groups or not practicing social distancing. If you see a large group of folks not complying with the Stay at Home Order, please contact the North Royalton Police Department when it happens at 440-237-8686. They can politely remind them of the order and get them to disburse.

Please, Please, Please take COVID-19 seriously! Like everyone else I want things to go back to normal. ANYONE can get COVID-19 including beautiful Baby Eli and his father here in North Royalton! Thank you Eli’s parents Dawn and Sean for sharing their families story! Click Here to learn more. In speaking with them they wanted me to stress we ALL need to do out part to #FlattenTheCurve! Ward 3 E-Newsletter: April 2020

Ward 3 Resident,

We are living in unusual times and the next two weeks or more we may lose more Americans than 9/11. So as much as I like to give you my normal Monthly Ward 3 E-Newsletter I won’t be able too. I will give an abbreviated version with basic things going on in City Council, City Government, and Ward 3 while continuing to provide important COVID-19 information you need to know about. I am continuing to get complaints from residents about people in our community not following the Stay at Home Order by the State of Ohio and being large groups or not practicing social distancing. If you see a large group of folks not complying with the Stay at Home Order, please contact the North Royalton Police Department when it happens at 440-237-8686. They can politely remind them of the order and get them to disburse. I was a soldier in my younger years and I was prepared to sacrifice my life for my country if necessary in the defense of my country and for my fellow battle buddies. First Responders especially doctors and nurses don’t nor should they sacrifice their lives. Who is going to care for us if we lose them? That was my responsibility and my fellow brothers and sisters in the US Military. So please #StayHome, go out for only essential things (medication, groceries, and work at an essential business etc.) #MaskUpNRWard3, and if outside use #SocialDistancing including for your children. Hang in there and we can get through this but we all must work together to fight this war on COVID-19! Given this week is Holy Week (Easer in a few days too) and if you are religious please pray for all those on the front lines battling COVID-19 like Marissa my wife and the First Lady of Ward 3 who is trying to help save lives!

#StayHome & Still Have a Happy Easter!

Dan Langshaw
Ward 3 Councilman
North Royalton City Council

PS: Due to the large volume of phone calls. I ask residents and business needing assistance, please email me at Ward3@northroyalton.org so it will be easier for me to prioritize who I need to help or direct to the appropriate resources.

Ward 3 Quick Update: March 23, 2020

Ward 3 Resident,

As your City Councilman I am doing all I can to help you and your families through this COVID-19 emergency. I get daily updates from our State Lawmakers, various agencies, and officials on this every changing situation. I have even participated last Friday in a teleconference with our United States Congressman Anthony Gonzalez and other elected officials to provide input on how the federal government can help us here locally and our first responders on the front lines of this war against COVID-19. As of yesterday the Governor reported that state-wide there are 1,933 confirmed cases, 39 deaths, and 493 cases here in Cuyahoga County. I am continuing to get complaints from residents about people in our community not following the Stay at Home Order by the State of Ohio and being large groups or not practicing social distancing. #MaskUpNoRo Initiative

(Last Updated on May 29, 2021 10:30am)

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has recommended that Americans wear cloth face coverings (masks) in public to help slow the spread of COVID-19. This recommendation is being made based on studies that show a significant proportion of people with COVID-19 lack symptoms and can transmit the virus to others in close proximity, through speaking, coughing, sneezing or other means. Also the Ohio Department of Health Director Dr. Amy Acton and Ohio Governor Mike DeWine also strongly recommend that Ohioans wear face coverings in public as well to prevent the further spread of COVID-19.

So in late March of 2020, Dan Langshaw while serving on City Council launched his #MaskUpNRWard3 & #MaskUpNoRo Initiative to get as many homemade cloth face masks to residents and businesses who urgently need in both Ward 3 and North Royalton Community to eliminate the spread of COVID-19!

Because of the help of many amazing volunteers “Mask Angels”, generous donations of supplies, and more. Over 5,000 FREE homemade cloth masks have already been given out so far to the elderly, those with high risk conditions to COVID-19, #NRWard3Buddy Program residents, nurses, front line health care workers, nursing homes, residential care facilities for those with developmental disabilities, essential businesses, essential workers, first responders families, schools, and more throughout both Ward 3 and the entire North Royalton community! Wearing a mask on top of other measures like social distancing and proper personal hygiene will help get us hopefully closer to a return back to normal sooner!

If you need a mask or like to make a donation of supplies email former North Royalton Ward 3 Councilman Dan Langshaw at danlangshawfornrward3@yahoo.com or call 440-785-4240.

TOTAL Masks donated to the North Royalton Community to date= 6,016

Ward 3 Resident,

On Sunday, March 22th, under the direction of Ohio Governor Mike DeWine, Ohio Department of Health Director Amy Acton, M.D., MPH issued a director’s order to require all Ohioans to stay in their homes to prevent the further spread of COVID-19 beginning TONIGHT at 11:59pm EDT on Monday, March 23, 2020 until 11:59pm on April 6, 2020. This order prohibits holding gatherings of any size and closes all nonessential businesses. It does NOT prohibit essential activities like going to the grocery store, receiving medical care, or taking your pet for a walk. Residents can return home from out of state and can leave the state. I have also implemented the North Royalton Ward 3 Neighborhood Buddy Program. See below for more information. It was reported today by the Governor that state-wide there are 442 confirmed case, 6 deaths, and 149 cases here in Cuyahoga County. This very serious and we must #StayHome to #FlattenTheCurve and end the community spread of COVID-19. We can get through this but we all must work together to fight this war on COVID-19!

Councilman Langshaw will make the initial introductions, provide a buddy program checklist, and then the buddies will determine the frequency/means of check ins. Due to serious safety concerns with COVID-19 it is strongly urged that buddy communications are done by phone, email, Facebook, video chat, and other means till deemed safe by proper state and local authorities.

How the Program Works?
How the North Royalton Ward 3 Neighborhood Buddy Program for the COVID-19 Emergency works. Buddies will contact each other on a daily basis or a frequency they both mutually agreed upon. The volunteer buddy will have an emergency contact of their buddy in case they are unable to be reached. The volunteer buddy when contacting their assigned buddy will go thru a basic checklist to ensure their buddy is ok and then can discuss anything they like to talk about as buddies. Due to serious safety concerns with COVID-19 it is strongly urged that buddy communications are done by phone, email, Facebook, video chat, and other means till deemed safe by proper state and local authorities. Once buddy volunteer makes contact with their assigned buddy they are to email Ward 3 Councilman Dan Langshaw at ward3@northroyalton.org a quick update on their buddy as follows: that they have made contact and if their buddy needs any assistance.

Note: This program is a voluntary neighborhood program established by North Royalton Ward 3 City Councilman Dan Langshaw on March 20, 2020 and is not affiliated with any specific group, organization, or part of the North Royalton City government. All those participating are expected to take all appropriate safety measures to not put their life or others at risk during the COVID-19 Emergency.

Stay Home, Look after each other, and Stay Safe!

PS: Due to the large volume of phone calls. I ask residents and business needing assistance, please email me at Ward3@northroyalton.org so it will be easier for me to prioritize who I need to help or direct to the appropriate resources.
