North Royalton Small Business Owners COVID-19 Relief Fund Announced
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE January 18, 2021
(North Royalton, Ohio)—Martin Luther King Jr. once said “Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, what are you doing for others?” Taking that to heart former North Royalton Councilman Dan Langshaw and candidate for North Royalton Ward 3 City Council announced on MLK Day January 18, 2021 via a video on his Facebook page at Facebook.com/DanLangshawNR that he has officially launched a GoFundMe at gf.me/u/zfv9kd called the North Royalton Small Business Owners COVID-19 Relief Fund. The purpose of the fund is to provide much needed financial assistance to any small business owners in North Royalton, Ohio that have been devastated by the COVID-19 pandemic that need help to avoid closing their doors for good.
According to the US Chamber of Commerce, 43% of small businesses surveyed believe that they have less than six months until a permanent shutdown is unavoidable. Which is why, Langshaw back in December of 2020 urged the North Royalton City Council during a Special Finance Committee Meeting on the 2021 City Budget to reallocate funds to help save struggling small businesses in North Royalton. Only to have it fall on deaf ears as the budget was stamped with the Council’s approval.
Supporting small businesses is very important and even personal to Langshaw, because of the experience he had of his father trying to establish a local business in his youth in town. That ultimately did not survive a tough economy. Owning a small family run business is extremely hard and comes at times great sacrifice to one’s own family. Small businesses urgently need help due to the pandemic. Many North Royalton small businesses have not gotten any COVID-19 relief in grants or loans at the federal or state level.
Listening to the struggles that local business owners broke Langshaw an over 30 year resident of North Royalton heart and motivated him to take action. “How are these people to survive? How are our bars, restaurants, and other retail businesses going to survive? They won’t if we don’t help them. We just can’t wait anymore for help. Help is not on the way at the local level”. Said Langshaw.
“Seeing already a number of North Royalton small businesses already go under, more vacant retail spaces popping up, and further decline of our city. We as members of the community can’t wait any longer for the politicians to do something about this. Nor can we wait for more talk and no action.” Said Langshaw in his announcement of the creation of the North Royalton Small Business Owners COVID-19 Relief Fund on GoFundMe.
Anyone wishing to make a donation to help struggling North Royalton small businesses impacted by the pandemic can go to gf.me/u/zfv9kd to help now this community driven effort. Local business owners wishing to apply for assistance can contact Dan Langshaw at danlangshawfornrward3@yahoo.com for more information.
