Street striping for the entire city has been completed recently. Also crack sealing for the following Ward 3 roads of Wallings, York, and Albion have been completed too.
Oil and Gas Well Fight Update
On August 28th the City received some good news that the Franklin County Court of Common Pleas has affirmed the Ohio Oil and Gas Commission’s ruling from earlier this year stating that the city’s safety concerns, in regards to Cutter oil wells, should have been given more consideration and review by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, rather than focusing solely on economic gain when considering Cutter’s mandatory pooling application. This now is the second favorable ruling the city has gotten in fighting against force pooling sought by Cutter Oil Company. This is another great victory for our city and most importantly home rule state wide. Read More. Also if you like to read the full text of the court ruling Click Here.
Economic Development Update
The Norwood shopping center project on Royalton Rd located in front of the Pine Forest Apartments is moving along. The project was delayed a month due to all the rainy weather and is now set to be tentatively completed at the end of this month. Read More.

Back to School Safety Reminders
The North Royalton City School District is back in session. Please be careful driving in school zones. Schools buses are back on the roads and students will be crossing streets throughout Ward 3 to catch these buses. Be mindful of the posted speed limits of 25mph in the residential areas of our ward as well and keeping the appropriate distance away from buses when they stop. Also when parking on city streets to wait for the school buses. Do not park your vehicle within 30 feet in front of a stop sign. You could get cited for being in violation of this particular city parking ordinance.
Information on Open Burning
The City of North Royalton has had a no open burning ordinance for more than 15 years. Chapter 1620 of our Codified Ordinances was written to adopt State Law and Ohio E.P.A. regulations. This means that the burning of yard refuse, construction debris or any other materials is strictly prohibited. Any individuals who are found to be burning illegally are subject to citations and subsequent fines for violation of this ordinance. To view Chapter 1620 Click Here. It is a searchable database link where you can key in 1620 and be taken to the Chapter. In conjunction with the above ordinance, the North Royalton City Council approved Ordinance No. 94-143 in September, 1994. This ordinance prohibits the use of all residential incinerators. This means that home incinerators must be taken out-of-service. Existing incinerators should be disconnected and the fuel source properly capped off. Any person found using an incinerator is in violation of City Codes and is subject to citations and fines. The purpose of these two ordinances is to improve the air quality for everyone in our community. The smoke that is generated from the burning of trash and waste material is annoying, irritating and poses a health risk to people with respiratory ailments. If you have previously burned these materials, past practice does not entitle you to violate current laws and our neighbor’s right to clean fresh air. These ordinances are in place for the health and safety of all our residents. If you have any questions or concerns contact the North Royalton Fire Department on the Non-Emergency Phone Number at 440-237-4315 or the City Safety Director at 440-237-5759.

Community Information Night “Heroin in the Suburbs”
All are invited to attend. September 23rd, at 7:00 PM at the North Royalton High School Performing Arts Center. Judge Michael Astrab from the Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas has been presenting this forum through-out Cuyahoga County. Judge Astrab is a member of the Northeast Ohio Opiate Task Force and has participated in over 50 events and has talked to over 18,000 people. He will be joined by Assistant Prosecutor Ms. Nicole Ellis and Mr. Robert Brandt whose son Robby tragically died from a Heroin Overdose. Come hear what we can do as a community to prevent heroin addiction. Learn about responsible use of prescription opiates. Understand addiction, recognize the signs of opiate abuse and heroin use to prevent addiction before it can take hold. See addiction for what it is, a disease, much like cancer or diabetes that can be treated. Face the reality that opiate abuse and heroin addiction is in every community in some form. Realize that ignoring these things only allows this crisis to destroy our community. You may not be affected by heroin or opiate abuse directly but crimes of theft and even assault can be directly related to this crisis. Judge Astrab’s message is simple: Don’t start heroin. But if you do, get help immediately. And if you see something say something.
