WARD 3 MONTHLY E-NEWSLETTER: JANUARY 2014

Greetings Ward 3 Resident,

It has been a cold and snowy winter thus far to start the year. It has also been a busy one for me as your councilman and our city too.

On January 9th I announced the official launch of my New Resident Welcome Initiative. The purpose of the initiative is to connect Ward 3 residents new to the city of North Royalton with the services available within the community and to increase engagement with residents. I have reached out to some local realtors and homeowner’s associations in the area to assist me in identifying new residents. Through this initiative new Ward 3 residents will be receiving a visit from me and an informational packet about basic services available within the community. Click here to learn more about the initiative. Also if you know of any new ward 3 residents interested in getting a welcome packet they can request one by calling me at 440-785-4240 or emailing me at ward3@northroyalton.org.

I have gotten a few calls from residents concerned about the plowing of their streets. Just as a reminder our snow plow crews first priority is clearing the main roads then they will focus their efforts on the secondary roads. Please be patient with our crews as they have many roads to clear throughout our city. Also record breaking subzero temperatures and heavy amounts of snow make their job more difficult.

Stay Warm!

Dan Langshaw
Ward 3 Councilman
North Royalton City Council

AROUND WARD 3

Heroin in the Suburbs Town Hall
On January 29th I attended the “Heroin in the Suburbs” town hall forum hosted by Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court Judge Michael Astrab at the Strongsville Cuyahoga County Public Library Branch. The panelists were a diverse group from law enforcement, drug counselors, a recovering addict, and a mother of a recovering addict. It was a very informative meeting. This issue even impacts us here in North Royalton. Back in December of 2013 we had 2 resident heroin overdose deaths, bringing total deaths to about 5. Click here to learn more.

Statehouse Visit

On January 17th I traveled to Columbus and met with State Senator Tom Patton’s Legislative Aide at the Statehouse and shared Ward 3 residents concerns about urbanized drilling. Thank to all the residents who have sent me letters and emails about this issue. I shared them with the Senator’s aide. We need Columbus to change the laws dealing with this issue. You may be wondering what a snow parking ban is. A snow parking ban pertains to all city streets is not cancelled until a North Royalton Police Department supervisor deems all roads safe and clear, which typically occurs after snow plow operations have been completed. Violators of the snow parking ban are subject to parking citations and/or impoundment of their vehicles.
