Just wanted to give you a quick update on a few things.
Back to School Safety Reminders
The North Royalton City School District is back in session today August 19th. Please be careful driving in school zones. Schools buses will back on the roads and students will be crossing streets throughout Ward 3 to catch those buses. Be mindful of the posted speed limits of 25mph in the residential areas of our ward as well and keeping the appropriate distance away from buses when they stop. Also when parking on city streets to wait for the school bus. Do not park your vehicle within 30 feet in front of a stop sign. You could get cited for being in violation of this particular city parking ordinance. I wish all kids in our ward who are returning back to school a great 2015-2016 school year!
2015 City Road Repair Program Update
The 2015 City Road Repair Program is set to commence with the following four streets being resurfaced in the following order:
- Abbey Road (from Albion Rd. to Sprague Rd.)
- Akins Road (from Bennett Rd. to Ridge Rd.)
- Goodman Drive / Circle
- Hawley Drive
Karvo Paving Company has been awarded the 2015 City Road Repair Program and construction of the resurfacing is planned to commence on August 24th. Two-way traffic will be maintained throughout the duration of the project. Ward 3 residents who live near or use Abbey Rd. Please note that Abbey Road, for a portion of the project, will be limited to one-way traffic. Please slow down and drive cautiously throughout these areas during construction.
Bennett Road Resurfacing Project
The Bennett Road Resurfacing project started construction on August 10th. The Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) signs are in place. This project is a collaborative effort between the City of North Royalton and the Cuyahoga County Department of Public Works. This project involves the resurfacing of Bennett Road from Edgerton Road to Bridgewater Drive, along with a widening of the pavement to allow for a paved shoulder. This project will be completed by Chagrin Valley Paving, and the project will be administered and managed by the Cuyahoga County Department of Public Works. Two-way traffic will be maintained throughout the duration of the project. Please plan on some delays during construction and look for flaggers controlling traffic near active construction. Please slow down and drive cautiously throughout this area during construction.
Akins Road Closure (Between York Road & Bennett Road)
Akins Road Closed – Between York Road and Bennett Road until the Spring of 2016. The spring rains and wet weather accelerated the planned replacement of this 87 year old structure. The sidewalls or abutments are cracked, shifted, and undermined to the extent that they are near collapse. Read More.
