Council Update

Highlights from Council Meetings
Some highlights from the City Council Meetings for November. Council passed Ordinance 14-126 a ordinance that will help provide some financial assistance to residents experiencing issues with a registered contractor’s work. Click here to learn more.  Council passed three pieces of legislation to help prepare for the city budget for 2015. Ordinance 14-133, an ordinance establishing a service capital fund. This would be for the Service Department to set aside funds for future purchases of snowplow trucks and other equipment to be part of the city budget. Ordinance 14-134 , an ordinance detailing the distribution of franchise fees received from the city of North Royalton’s various cable franchise agreements. This change allows for $60,000 of these fees to go to the newly created service capital fund. Finally, Ordinance 14-135 would divert up to $200,000 in emergency medical services fees to the Fire Pension Fund for firefighters. By taking money out of future fire department capital for one year, leaving over $1 million in the fund, to ensure that the city can pay salaries and pensions for the extra pay period in 2015. Resident Feedback Needed for Online Sidewalk Survey

At the end of the presentation, they distributed a survey and asked that residents complete the survey and return to NOACA. The results of the survey will assist in determining priority improvements in the city, including sidewalks. If you were unable to attend the meeting and would like to participate in the survey study, please Click Here to complete the survey. Please also share with your friends, neighbors throughout our ward, and the whole city to participate too by giving them the link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/NRTransSurvey

Donations to the City Food Bank
As a result of Federal Government cuts to programs that assist those in need that have occurred over the last year or so, the city Office on Aging and Human Services has experienced an increase in the number of applicants applying for emergency food. The city Office on Aging and Human Services is asking for your help during this holiday season so that we can provide at least enough food for a holiday meal. Any support you can provide whether it be gift cards to local grocery stores, canned food items, or even monetary donations would be a great help. Check donations can be made out to the North Royalton-Kiwanis Food Bank Trust.  All donations of any kind can be dropped off at the Office on Aging and Human Services, 13500 Ridge Rd., North Royalton, Ohio 44133. For more information please contact Judy Willey at 440-582-6333.
