Good Evening:
As a U.S. Army Veteran, I just want to personally thank all those who have served or are currently serving in the United States Military. We are all free because of them! So on this Memorial Day Weekend if you see a family member, friend, neighbor, or random person in the street who is a Veteran or in uniform, please thank them for their service.
LAST WEEK IN YOUR SCHOOL BOARD
On May 26th, I held my Monthly Constituent Coffee at the French Quarter Café. I just wanted to thank those who stopped by to give me their feedback. I hold these monthly coffees in order to stay in touch with fellow residents and listen to their feedback. There is no appointment necessary. Simply stop by and talk to me. I will keep you posted when my next monthly coffee in June will be.
North Royalton City Schools’ Crystal Starfish Award Winners
Beth Schneider, North Royalton Middle School’s cafeteria manager was the recipient of the Crystal Starfish Staff Award. In addition to her Crystal Starfish plaque, she received a $100 gift certificate to Westfield/Southpark Mall, a $100 gift certificate to Buca di Beppo restaurant, and flowers, balloons, and a $50 gift certificate from Creations by Lynn and Royal Towne Florist. Schneider was nominated by her colleague. An excerpt from her nomination states, “Not only does she manage our crew to feed 1,500 plus students and staff every day, she managed to prepare special needs students’ lunches, those with severe allergy conditions, prepare for the spaghetti dinner fundraiser for 16 years, the district breakfast in December, end of the year reception, teachers’ special requests, cub and bear breakfasts, pride of NRMS breakfast, eighth grade farewell cookout, and so much more. Her devotion to the children and her staff has inspired our crew at the middle school café to excellence.” Beth has successfully completed the “Healthy Challenge: Gaining Skills for a Better Future” Ohio Department of Education Division of Child Nutrition Service Program. The middle school cafeteria also has received the Buckeye Best Award for two consecutive years. Diane Prokopovich, a seventh grade math teacher at North Royalton Middle School was the recipient of the Crystal Starfish Teacher Award. She receives a $250 from First Federal of Lakewood, to be used towards professional development, a $100 gift certificate to Buca di Beppo restaurant, as well as flowers, balloons, and a $50 gift certificate from Creations by Lynn and Royal Towne Florist. She was nominated by a parent. An excerpt from her nomination states, “Our world has been enlightened to what an amazing teacher Mrs. Prokopovich truly is. She takes the time to listen and graciously offered to give our child extra help. I admire her for giving my child the encouragement needed. She truly is an inspiration as a teacher. As a parent, she has encouraged me as well. I would love for her to be recognized as a difference-maker in childrens’ lives.” Mrs. Prokopovich has been with the district since 2000. The award honors those that are “making a difference above and beyond” each year. Students, colleagues, parents, and community members were encouraged to submit their nominations of both a teacher and staff member they felt deserves special recognition. Congrats to both them and all those in our district who make a difference each and every day.
